The world of energy is complicated—but understanding it just got simpler.

Hess Corporation is an oil & gas company involved in exploration and production that develops, produces, purchases, transports, and sells crude oil, natural gas liquids (NGLs), and natural gas.

Not everyone in the organization is an engineer. Oil & gas companies need accountants, graphic designers, and IT geeks, too. Hess launched an internal education program called Energy Explained, a lunchtime seminar series explaining technical topics in non-technical terms.

Topics included “What is Hydraulic Fracturing”, “Quantitative Geophysics: What we can learn about rocks from sound waves?”, and “Biostratigraphy in Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production” to name a few.

I put on my copywriter hat and made the topics a bit more interesting for the non-engineering types.
